RECENT STUFF

* THE PINKY AND PERKY SHOW was a finalist in the BROADCAST AWARDS for best children's TV series, 2010.

* My children's drama NOBODY WAS HERE made the final five of the recent CBBC submission round for new series.

* I also had a animated series short listed too. Watch this space.

* I sang an Abba medley to thank the sponsors at the BRITISH ANIMATIONS AWARD along with fellow tone deaf diva Tony Collingwood.

THIS YEAR I'VE ALSO

  • ran a two day story devising workshop for Hit Entertainment on a new pre-school show, Mike The Night. This was very successful and if you've ever considered a more active/fun/silly way of taking forward a show please ring them for a reference!

  • developed a short, silly Pinky And Perky spin-off show starring Tara and Tamara the Peckham poodle receptionists.

  • done development, a show bible and two pilot scripts for an animated version of K3, Belgium's biggest selling girl band (not the mountain) for Studio 100.

  • done something similar for Mini-Ninja's (above) already a best selling computer game and my first foray into full on action adventure comedy.

  • done something similar again for a pre-school series on philosophy for Planet Nemo.

  • created a new pre-school series for Impossible Pictures, Firestep and Kindle.

DON'T MISS THE BUS...

BACKPASSAGE WALKS vintage bus tour will be running around the East End this June. Check the Spitalfields Festival website for more details of this MAGICAL HISTORY TOUR which I'll be writing and guiding, along with fellow East End performer Steve Wells.  I'm also writing..

EAST END BACKPASSSAGES: an explorers guide.

Based up on on comedy history walks, this blend of facts, stories, strong opinions and bad jokes should be out in time for the London Olympics so bewildered marathon runners can find their way out of Wapping. It's from proper publisher Quartet.

THE PINKY AND PERKY SHOW

Still screening around the world and doing especially well in Australia, P&P were short-listed as best kids show at Annency,  Cartoons On The Bay and the Bradford Animation festival.  I also wrote a special P&P viral for an industry award show where the pigs accidentally spread swine flu!

FRANKENSTEIN'S CAT continues to have nine lives too, still screening regularly on CBBC, where it's proving a real ratings banker. Last year it won Best Children's Series at Cartoons On The Bay and at Bradford and a second series is still being discussed.

OTHER WORK IN 2009  included a script for Darryl McQueens first animated series 'Pet Squad' and a pilot for new C.G.I. Series inspired by 'The Little Prince.'

I also continued my involvement with the Channel Four animation schemes as script mentor and one of the films I helped on a bit, Mother Of Many, went on to win a Bafta for best animated short.

OLD NEWS

Here is some of the pleasingly approving press that our revival of Pinky and Perky got...

' An incredibly slick and successful update.

From tiny chipolatas, mighty bangers once grew,

and I think Pinky & Perky will sizzle again. Four stars. '

 The Mail

'Witty scripts that will delight the kids

and should raise a smile from most parents.'

 The Times

'There is much to recommend this incarnation.

Choice of the day '

The Sunday Times

'A Pixar approach to adult irony…

a wizard's hat of decent gags.'

The Guardian

CBBC's fantastic new show continues

to prove that two pert little piglets really can

be the saviours of children's TV.

The Mail again ( a week later.)

'We like it very much'

Jan and Vlasta Dalibor, the creators of Pinky and Perky.

YOU TUBE. I TUBE. EVERYBODY TUBES

...and because of that lots of things I've worked on down the years are now turning up on line, including some sketches I did for BBC2's satire show Deadringers, with animator buddy Kate Sullivan.

You see can U.K. cartoon characters trying to fill in for the Simpsons, Jeremy Clarkson guesting on Wacky Races and other sketches by going to Youtube and searching for 'Kate Sullivan animation.'

There's also a lot of stuff from the Mr Hell Show too.

Also if you're really desperate, for something to kill time there's footage of me and Professor Paul Wells, senior lecturer in animation studies at the University Of Loughborough ( really ) thanking the sponsors at the 2008 British Animation Awards.. to the tune of Mac The Knife.

A quick search also reveals a full episode of Bounty Hamster is on there too - plus the original pilot of Foxbusters - with the wrong voices and an early version of the character designs, plus dead chickens on screen!

Oh the internet, it's a great big dustbin that is never emptied and strangers can sort through forever.

STILL IN THE SHOPS ( BUT CHEAPER ON E-BAY )...
